One day you won't be able to walk into a dealership and buy a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 Jaguar.
Today, you still can.
And every time you press that starter button, you'll remember exactly why people fell in love with big-engined Jaguars in the first place.
Let's get the sensible bits out of the way...
• The road tax is £790 a year.
• Drive it as Jaguar intended and it'll happily return single-figure MPG.
• Drive it sensibly and we've managed 20+ MPG... although that's missing the point a little.
• It's had a back box delete, so it sounds exactly as a V8 should.
• It also has an intermittent engine management light. It comes and goes as it pleases and hasn't affected how the car drives during our ownership, but we'd rather tell you now than let you find out later.
Do you need a 380bhp luxury Jaguar V8?
Absolutely not.
But that's never been the point.
If you're looking for sensible, there are plenty of 2.0 diesels out there.
If you're looking for something that makes you take the long way home, drop a gear just to hear the noise, and puts a smile on your face every time you press the starter button... this might just be the one.
We've loved every minute of owning it, but it's time for someone else to enjoy one of the last great naturally aspirated V8 luxury saloons.
It will come with a fresh 12 months' MOT, a full service, and we'll also be fitting new front discs and pads before it leaves us. It drives exactly as it should - no unwanted noises, pulls like a train, and for the money you'll struggle to find anything that goes this well and sounds this good.
We've priced this car significantly below normal retail value and are selling it as a clearance vehicle. Mechanically, we're very happy with it, but we'd rather price it honestly than spend time chasing perfection. The bodywork is generally very good, although it does have a few cosmetic imperfections as you'd expect. Unfortunately, there's very little documented service history. We have the original book pack, just not the paperwork to go with it.
Despite all of that, it hasn't missed a beat during our ownership.
Two keys.
Part exchange welcome.
Any inspection welcome.
Serious test drives encouraged.
